  • VRayMtl VS BRDFdiffuse : dead code

    Hi,
    Just to tell that i have experimented to render a scene with a basic VRayMtl, with just diffuse (reflection/refraction/sss...to off) : 3min29
    I have rendered the same scene, but with a BRDFdiffuse, from create ----> Vray -----> material plugin : 3min04
    It looks like it is the result of the "dead code".

    If yes, i hope i will the same result with OSL !

    Interesting; which V-Ray version is this? Ideally VRayMtl with just diffuse color should be exactly equal to a single BRDFDiffuse plugin, but I think we might be creating an extra reflection layer even though it's not visible.

      @vlado: No, we don't export reflection layer, at least in my simple scene.

      @bigbossfr: Can you send us the scene or can you export two vrscenes and send them?

        I was wrong. I have checked the vrscene, and the construction is the same.
        It is very very smart to export just the layer with the exporter ! Good optimization.
