  • Vrayight vs Photometric/ies light.

im not sure if anyone has posted this before...but i have found numeros times that vray lights with poor setings produce splotches/white/orang/red..but the minute i delete them and replace photometric light...things were ok. anyone with the similar findings?

I recon the IES lights [do you mean the ones from erco?] look great but render slower ?

i found that the erco Starpiont ies files render pretty fast, better than others.

I've got 8 downlights in my scene, I recon maybe they are slowing it down a touch, however I havent experimented with lighting just yet, still texturing this b!tch

to be honest i dont think it matter's how long the final render takes because i always do the final image overnight ... but what does matter to me is the test render's through out the day ... so i play around with the qmc settings and found i can get very fast renders with the right light amount and everything else but a little blotchy ... but super fast renders.

Yup mate I do exactly the same thing - BUT im rendering for animations...
thus I need speed probably a bit more than for stills.
My renders are taking too long at the moment which is annoying me, and im not sure whether its due to scale or not?

Animations have always been a sticky piont with me cos i do internals which means longer render time ...and its hard to get the right balance between speed and quality
