  • Pre-Distributed assets for DR rendering

Is there a way to force the dr slaves to load a file locally instead of reading it over the network when rendering distributed?
I have a nasty 800mb file with tons of textures that might need rendering on a farm. The farm is going to be set up as a vpn, but is in Sweden (I'm in Norway). Having max transfer the whole scene each time could be quite time consuming, and would clog the net.
Does anyone have any experiences with this?

You can use the "transfer assets" function in the DR dialog, in combination with the option to cache assets locally. If a slave cannot find the asset at the location that is specified, it will download it from the render client and store it locally for future use.

Hey, thanks for the speedy reply.

If it all works according to my plan, the stuff would only be sent once for the start of the job.
Using LpassManager so all shots are in the same scene file.
Would I need to make sure that the "restart slave on render end" option is set to OFF?

        It shouldn't matter.
