  • Any tips on speeding up Light Cache calculations?

I have a scene that is very large and has about 1700 lights in it.
The light cache takes forever to calculate.
Does anyone have any tricks of speeding up the calculation?
Part of the problem is memory but any other tips would be appreciated.

Do you have probabilistic lights enabled? If not, then enabling that will definitely help.

      Hi Vlado,
I have tried probalistic lights but I can't get a clean enough result even pumping it up to 1000.
PL does make things a lot faster though. Shame about the noise it produces.

can you enable probabilistic lights just for the LC calc? then save the lc and do a render without it enabled?

I meant just for the light cache calculations.

It will get better This initial implementation is more like a placeholder for the actual thing.
