  • VRayVolumeGrid vs fumeFX

I have been trying to mimic smoke rendered with fumeFX and fumeFX cache in a VRayVolumeGrid. It looks, almost the same but the fumeFX render gets a little more punch in the highlights.
Has anybody else noticed this? Is it possible to get the exact same result?

It would be best to post examples or send them to support; it should be possible to get satisfactory results.

With that said, perfectly exact match is not possible and some differences should be expected (unless there is a bug, which is always a possibility ). The VRayVolumeGrid is a general volume rendering plugin; we have not tried specifically to mimic FumeFX 1:1 (plus, we don't really know how FumeFX actually does its shading).

In any case, best to take a look at the specific scene.

    Best regards,

I took a look at it again and now it looks an awful lot the same
The fumeFX looks a tiny bit smoother.
