Use a standard camera and set the camera type in the Vray settings to spherical and the FOV override to 360. It might work with a physical cam as well, but I am not sure if I have done this with a physcam before... Resolution ratio needs to be 2:1, 2000x1000px for example.
This way you won't get any seams. All the masks, render layers etc. work perfectly well, except for the glare and bloom. On the seams you might get artifacts.
This is for the standard 360 spherical image. For VR you might need some eye distance or stereoscopy or something like that.
