  • Going from 4000x4000 to 2000x2000, impact on rendertimes

    Hej!

A question, we are currently rendering all our scenes on 4000x4000, we are talking about going down to 2000x2000.

Without performing any tests yet, is it as easy as to say render times will go down by half in general?

in pixel amount terms it would be a quarter not half of the time. considering some resolution independent operations going on during rendering you can safely assume 3 times faster I guess.

Calculate the total number of pixels. Assume resoultions 2x2 and 4x4, so it is easier - 2x2=4, 4x4=16.
16 is 4 times more than 4. So it should take (roughly) 4 times less.
