Is it possible to create randomization in the material? Particularly in Tile. I rarely have the luxury of more than one image a tile style. Is there a way to have Vray create a random placement generator within its mapping? Just need something so its not obvious the same one tile is being places one after the other.

Hi Kraig,
How about Tiles texture in the V-Ray material? You can find it under the 2D Textures category in the list. And in the texture parameters, under Tile, there are Color Variance, Fade Variance and Random Seed parameters.
A texture can be added in the Color Tile slot.
Let me know if I understood you correctly and this is what you were looking for (or not).
Best,
Ana

Well, then I think you can try this out:
1. Tile the texture on Photoshop.
2. In the .vrmat, use Mix (Map) texture, it is under Utility textures. This allows you to blend between 2 maps or a map and a color, based on a third map (the Mix Map). Basically, the Mix Map controls the opacity of the top texture.
There are many approaches here depending on what you actually want to achieve.
In my case, I used one of the default library tiles textures. It was 2x2 tiles but I photoshopped it to 4x4.
In the Mix Map texture, I put it in slot A.
In slot B, I put color corrected version of the same texture.
Then, to mix them, I use grayscaled tiles texture with Color Variance.Attached FilesAna Lyubenova

Thank you Ana. One other question, this may need to go into wishlist but since we're here. I love the color/fade variance of the tile option, but is there anyway that in a future release Vray can actually create a randomness? If using this option on a large area, the 'random' variance becomes really apparent. I've attached a quick example of a tile I created for a current project. You can see the tiling in the darkened tiles.

For now, Kraig, there is no such option. That's why I gave you the workaround. We will add it to the wishlist anyway.
Play with the Variance and Holes parameters.Ana Lyubenova
