  • High quality portrait tutorial / private teaching ?

    Hi vray users!

I hope someone of you will take some of his or her time to help me.

I worked for over 10 years making zbrush models and 3ds max etc but I never dared to enter the realistic shading of portraits, hair grooming, etc. That is something I really really want to learn and facial rigging.

The problem is 95 percent of the time its always Maya, Arnold and xgen. IS there really nothing out there that works with 3ds max, vray and ornatrix? Its so strange that you cant find any but maybe its just me.

And I know you can probably bring the techniques over to max but im just not comfortable doing that to be honest. Like painting the different skin maps and hook them up to vray, xgen workflows in ornatrix Im a bit scared.

well probably all of you will ignore this but if someone knows a bit more please let me know.
Im willing to pay for private lessons if you are someone that likes to teach. It doesn't have to be live on Skype maybe private videos?

well anyways thank you for your time.

Do you have a good understanding of Anatomy?
Cause that is the key to good human portraits.

If not, i suggest looking at Scott Eatons courses. This guy has taught some of the best in the industry, including Ian Spriggs as mentioned above

Thank you for taking the time to reply! Yes I know about Ian but the man is a legend. I am pretty sure he would not spend time for a nobody like me. So that probably will not work. But thanks!

Yes the anatomy part and sculpting is what I do for a living. That is not the problem.

I need knowledge on the hows of the shading, painting skin, the maps and hair in vray for max using vray\s own skin shader. That is the person im looking for.

There are allot of quality tutorials on that with maya and arnold.

I guess I have to go that rout unfortunately

Also, a user called TKIO that joined the forum is a total monster at this work, maybe he'd be interested?
