The animation links don't seem to have anything in them.

Also, it doesn't look like Firefox supports .png files.

Wow nice. The vray sphere gizmo might be one of the best things coming to vray for a long time. For Guys doing Animation this will be priceless!
(BTW this was one thing i suggested to Vlado some time ago )

              Nice work Vlado!

PS: The Video links don't work for me. I just see the vid as a html page. Newest Firefox here.

Pretty cool! But the plugins seem to be made for max 6. They don't intialize in viz4 anyway. Will they be available for earlier versions?

this is interesting, however I dont see how its different from making unwanted objects not visible to camera? they also will still calculate and raytrace but they wont render...
with this method the floor that is rendered on below will cause difficulties when compositing and adjusting colors on cheracters. In such instances the floor, gi, and the cheracter will all be rendered as separate elements with matte and etc. So I dont see how this can benefit.

Well, because it may be hard to go through all objects and decide if each one must be visible to the camera or not. Also, the characters move from one object to another. You must make all those objects visible, which will increase the render time. The approach we describe takes care of this automatically by only including nearby surfaces.

with this method the floor that is rendered on below will cause difficulties when compositing and adjusting colors on cheracters. In such instances the floor, gi, and the cheracter will all be rendered as separate elements with matte and etc.
Of course. Feel free to render as many layers as you like Since this is only a tutorial, we didn't want to make it too complicated to follow. It just gives the basics - from then on, there are many additional things that can be done, depending on what is your goal.

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

The animations are on the page now, but you must right-click and save them to disk, before playing them.

I gave another try to fade thiny, and well I got 2 wishes for it :
add all the other atmospheric apparatus to be supported by fade i.e. box, cylinder,
2: allow any geometric objects to act as a fade. I think that could be very benevicial.

I didn't have a chance to go through the tutorial myself -- but I read it. I like the idea of that Vraysphere -- a lot.

There's one thing I don't understand though -- if the VraysphereFade thing creates a 0 alpha (does it?) for the grey surroundings, why can't you just superimpose (with a normal blend mode) the 'sphered' layer with the character and immediate surroundings directly over the backdrop?

Why are the black and pure renders needed?
