Ral matching

A query from a client.
If they see a colour they like, and they photograph it , be a building etc.
is there a near perfect way to match that to a RAL colour.
There are online colour matches, but is there a better way, that is proven to work.

Hi, thanks for posting. I moved your thread to tips and tricks, hope you don't mind.
You can use a lour picker from the photograph and this will give you some colour. But if you for example make a photo of a building's cladding and want to replicate this in 3d with accurate colours you will need a lot more.
You will need the full parameters of your lighting and camera when you took the photo just to start with it. I don't think this is applicable in case of natural lighting.

I work mostly with RAL and NCS colors. I have created material libraries for most commonly used colors by using iPad RAL iColours app where I create color samples and then use color picker in Max to get the colors right. Before sending the renderings, I fine tune them in Phososhop by using Curves (Ctrl + M).Here's RAL 5000, Which is the SKF bearing housing color. I do not use the RGB-values.
