  • VFB+Color mapping::do we have to re-render or instantaneous?

    Hi,
    i would just like to know how to use the VFB for color mapping corrections? Do we have to re-render the frame to see the changes or is it supposed to be instantaneous?
    I am using 1.47.03, and i did do a search and couldnt find an answer
    Thanks
    Vivek

    I don't know enough to help you, but I think this was posted in the wrong area. you might get more advice if you move it.

      If you are talking about the color corrections window in the VFB where you have the 2 bezier points and you can change the curve then yes that is instantaneous once you have set it up how you want and then click the button that applies it... cant recall off hand what the button is but its like the 3rd one from the right..you can see little curves in it... you can click that on and off to apply to remove the color corrects you had just setup.

      So you setup your color correction curve using the first button at the bottom left hand corner of the VFB then close that and then apply the settings using the button i mentioned above.

        Also, just to note, if you want that color correction applied to the image you must save the image from the VFB with the save icon at the top of the VFB otherwise the image will be saved as it appears when you duplicate the image to the Max Frame Buffer. In other words, no correction.

          What about animation? Can I render a frame, adjust the curve in the vray frame buffer, and then render several frames keeping the same curve? That would be cool!

            No i dont believe that is possible... as the only way to save multiple frames is by using the max save image in the render panel and this will not even touch the VFB

            Your best bet would be to use gamma color mapping to achieve the required result as this will be saved to each image that is saved to disk.

              I see. So there's really no point in using the vray frame buffer at all for animation.
