  • object on white with GI question???

Hi there everyone, i have a question which im sure you will see as being very simple, but i just cannot work it out. I have a cube with a vray light on it, i would like to get the cube on a white background with the shadow and gi remaining, i used to use the (matte/shadow) material on scanline render but cannot get anything simular to work in vray.
    hope this makes sense?
    any help much appreciated.
    thanks
    Rob

    Two options:

    1. Right click the plane object and select vrayproperties. There you will find matte properties check it and also turn on shadows.

    2. Apply a material with a vraymaterialwrapper there you will see the same matte options.

Don't use the MatlWrapper on the plane. Just a normal white Material should work fine. Then open the VRay properties of the plane and activate the following settings:

        - Matte object (on)
        - Alpha contribution -1
        - Shadows (on)
        - Affect alpha (on)
        - color (black)
        - Brightness (1)

        Then render the image.

thanks mirko, for the simple-ton way of fixing my problem, ive tried the settings and it works fine. It was the (-1) alpha contribution that i was not doing.
          thanks again
