  • PS or procedural Noise displacement ?

I was just wondering what most of you use for a displacement map for carpet, rugs, etc. Photoshop (or similar) noise, or procedural noise. I have had better luck with PS and 2d diplacement type, myself. Any suggestions for better/faster ways to displace carpet/rugs.

    Regards,

what ever you end up doing i would recommend you take the displacement map into PS and a few pixel black border around the map, this will stick your carpet to the floor properly instead of the edges looking like crap.

Yes, that was a lesson well learned. Dont need any magic carpets floating around the scene.

i would definately go PS for displacement maps as procedural maps tend to "dance" a bit when doing animations
