I have to be doing something wrong with my settings. My material have to be super dark in order to show up correct on the screen. Thanks for the tutorial. Hope it helps.

Here's few more info I managed to collect about LWF.

            1
            max preferences:
            Gamma 2.2
            Input gamma: 2.2

            Bitmap files
            Input Gamma : 2.2
            Output Gamma: 1

            vray color mapping settings:
            gamma correction 2.2

rendering using VFB: you got burn in gamma 2.2
rendering using max frame buffer: image got double gamma but when saved from MFB it's with correct gamma 2.2

            2
            max preferences:
            Gamma 2.2
            Input gamma: 2.2

            Bitmap files
            Input Gamma : 2.2
            Output Gamma: 1

            vray color mapping settings:
gamma correction: 1 (or linear 1, doesn't really matter)

rendering using VFB: you got dark image with gamma 1
rendering using max frame buffer: image looks correct, got gamma 2.2 but when saved from MFB it's with gamma 1 (it's dark)

            3
            max preferences:
            Gamma 2.2
            Input gamma: 2.2

            Bitmap files
            Input Gamma : 2.2
            Output Gamma: 2.2

            vray color mapping settings:
            gamma correction: 2.2

rendering using VFB: you got burn in gamma 2.2
rendering using max frame buffer: image got double gamma and when saved from MFB it's saved also with doubled gamma (wrong)

            4
            max preferences:
            Gamma 2.2
            Input gamma: 2.2

            Bitmap files
            Input Gamma : 2.2
            Output Gamma: 2.2

            vray color mapping settings:
gamma correction: 1 (or linear 1, doesn't really matter)

rendering using VFB: you got dark image with gamma 1
rendering using max frame buffer: image looks correct, got gamma 2.2 and when saved from MFB it's also with correct gamma 2.2

So i't up to you if you want to use burn in gamma, VFB or MFB or just the saves to be correct. Hope this helps.

Lukx: Is it true that if you are using a LCD monitor you should set up LWF for 1.8 gamma or .055 in the color mapping pulldown? I just read that on another forum.

Well that might make it display right but would be wrong on all CRT. And then its not LWF.

You just need to calibrate your display properly.

                AFAIK

                    only this:
they are referring to the older way vray used to have. There was only bright and dark multiplers. This is currently multiplier and inverse gamma.

                      ok - 10x

                      in new vray set Multiplier=0,454

                      and all is ok?!

no, you can actually leave those values as they are and just set the gamma value to 2.2 or whatever.

                          ok -10x

but i'm working with gamma 2,2 (from preference) + exponential > bright multiple 0,454 - work good for me
