  • Need some advice...

    Hello,

I am working on an animation. For that animation I use GI iwth IrMap and LC. I do not prerender the LC or IrMap cause it is a technical animation with lots of animated objects.
Due to the fact that I am not very familiar with all those settings in detail, I tried to use the "Medium - Animation" Preset for IrMap.

Unfortunately the animation flickers. But I have no idea how to optimize the settings. Could you help me out with this?

Here is a 4 sec. Test Animation:

You can see some flickering on the left cylinder.

    Here is the Material:

    And the render settings:

    Best Regards,
    Mirko

Hi mirko, use your setts with increased HSph subdivs for better detail GI and Interp samples to little blur it. Set LC to 1500. If it will still flicker you can use for primary bounces QMC GI and for secondary LC - http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...ic.php?t=14747 but render times will be probably very slow.

Being a technical animation, i dont think that -slight- flicker will be really an issue for the clients...Are you sure it is absolutely unacceptable?

i believe you problem exists purely because of the BLUR GI parameter that existsin the Medium Animation preset, change it back to custom (it will keep all your settings) and then just turn blur GI to 0
Then you should be right as rain
