  • IR maps and backburner 101

After spending the last 9 months or so on stills, we are finally working on animations again; however, I can not remember how to save the IR map thru backburner. I spent the last hour searching through the form looking for a similar question but I could not find it. It seems I’m doing it the same way as I did before but I must be missing a step or two.
It could be a network issue on how the map is saved. We have no problems with rendering frames over the network via backburner, just IR maps not being saved. We do the following: Save the IR map file to the local slave and check “Incremental add to current map” It’s calculating fine but it’s not saving the map.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

The IR map can only be rendered on one machine. In the Render dialog, under 'VRay:: Irradiance Map', and 'On Render End' select Auto save, and select a networked drive to save to.

You can send the IR map render job to one machine by: Net Render, then under Options, uncheck 'Use all servers', and select a single machine.

    Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the response; however, I’m still having no luck saving the map. See attached for the settings to see if I’m messing this up some how.

Shoot, that looks right to me. Sounds like a network issue. Did you try a short test to save to the network drive or even the local drive? You'ver reached the extent of my knowledge. Are you rendering a camera view? Are any components Xref'ed? Anyone else have any ideas?
