  • How do we do Nice blurry sun shadows?

    Hi to all of you,

i try to imitate the real sun shadows with a bit of blurry on it. How can we acheive it. I have use spot light with vray shadows, with other vray light near the windows, but usually there is a blurry effect on sun shadows in real life. That's what i try to get .

    Any clue ???

That's easy. Just wait for another couple of days until you have VRay 1.5.
In 1.5 there is a VRay sun with coreect shadows.

Just have a look at those examples: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...raysun_sky.htm

jo, your other option, until you get 1.5, is in your vrayshadow rollout of your "sun", check the area shadows tickbox, set the type to "sphere", and play with the U value to get the look you desire....expect to increase this value, I would think.

        What if

What if i try to use target spot light and then as you said Matt check box area shadows instead of vray shadows. I use target spot light to put the shadows at some place i want in the image to do it more nice looking )

Or should i use a vray light, change to sphere and ply withthe u like you said. But like that i have some problem to get the nice " burn area" on the ground like i want....

i've used it in conjunction with a target direct, not a spot - the "rays" cast from the direct are parallel and more closely resemble the sun's distribution. of course, if you pull the spotlight out far enough from the scene, it'll look more accurate, but that's just a matter of preference...

you could use a vray light sphere to do the same thing, but you'll still need to consider the same things as with a spotlight.

          that help?
