This is something I was testing and I am putting the results here and at cgarchitect.com..
I was trying to preserve the bg and keep the interior well lit. Its hard with a real photo so here is a very unscientific test regarding camera settings.

Reinhard is a bit confusing to me but this is also the first time I played with it.

edit : I removed the gamma corrected versions. It adds too many variables.

Here is a different example that shows illustrates better what I saw on the last tests. The first image uses gamma correction with the color correct modifier. The second image is default linear mult. Look at the bounced light almost all of the color info from the sun/sky is gone on the first image.

Thanks Sawyer. It's really difficult to tell what's going on without some standardized settings (such as a steady F

From what I can tell, the only one amongst the top set which is a modified Linear Wrokflow (no longer LWF) is #5.

Of the bottom set, I can't tell what 'gamma corrected' is without seeing your values. If you can, please post your scene so we can all have a stab at it.

Yeah this wasn't a scientific approach. I was using my nikon for these tests and taking the exposures (metered from differently illuminated objects in my room). Thats where the numbers came from (except # 1 that was the default)

The technique I used to come to a gamma correction was gc color space with .4545 in the inverse. And they should probably be discarded from the first set it was more of an ofter thought. So I removed that portion. I usually apply the some form of gc but I think this is confusing enough.

Now am I correct in assuming that srgb button on the vrfb is a gamma corrected lwf thingy option? When I was compairing the curve adjustment method to the srgb button I saw very different results.

        The second scene came from:
