  • speed up MBlur?

    Hi all,
have a small problem. i have a scene with an object with total 63.000 polys.
have to render with MBlur, at the moment
    geometry samples:4
    Subdivs.: 18.
    prepass samples:1

    VRay system:Max. tree depth:100
    Face/level couf. 0,8
    static memory at 1600MB

    Irr./LC

but he takes forever for building motion blur accelerator.
is there something for speed it up a bit?
    today is deadline, and........

I would try to "fix it in the post". The "Reel Smart Motion Blur" (RSMB) Plugin is not bad! It's a motion blur plugin for AfterFX, Premiere, Combustion; finalCut Pro, BorisRed, Commotion.

Due to the fact that it is a 2D tracking MotionBlur it is not perfect. But in many situations it is very good to have it! To enhance the quality you can set tracking points and use for motion calculation etc..

If you have Combustion, you can also try to render RPF-Files and use the RPF MotionBlur FX.

      hi mirko, thanks.

MB in post is difficult, cause its a simple cylindric body. i've try'd it with RS MB with velocity channel, but it turned always false looking. havn't much time to expiriments, and not much worked with combustion yet, so like to render it dirctly.

ah nice, on the way to try it out

          thanks man

btw, this is how the velocitychannel looks like. think it won't work like this

the barrel only turns on its own axis.

              Glad it worked for you.
It's certainly brought some of my rendertimes down, I'm not sure it works so well for objects behind glass though.

I think it's because of the server crash.

...but I am interested, too. maybe the guys who tried it, can explain the process?

                  best regards

The links were actually created for the old forum (phpBB) which is why they don't work now (we use vbulletin since maybe a year now).

                    Best regards,

I think the original post said that in some situations it is quicker if you set the motion blur subdivs to 1 and use the DMC sampler to keep the noise at an acceptably low level. I think this process works best for images where the camera is still and the motion blur is applied to an object.

Basically you need to set your image sampler to 'Adaptive DMC' and for best results don't use a sharpening filter. Set the image sampler 'Max subdivs' to something like 6-12 and then fine tune DMC noise threshhold until you are happy with the image quality/render times.

The original post was by Vlado and he probably explained it better than me but I hope some of the helps.
