  • Linear color converter

    Hi all,
    After having received so much from this forum, I've decided to give a little back. I wrote this little tool to prevent me from having to use the color correct plugin to convert scenes over to LWF. You just input a non-linear RGB and it gives you the colors back linearized. By switching modes, you can also go the other way, linear to non-linear. Keep in mind, that it only works correctly for color values from 0-255, even though it will let you input higher numbers.

    I've uploaded it to the private section of www.six4one.com under scripts and plugins. You must be an authorized vray user to get this file.

    I've used this tool a lot so I don't think there's any issues with it, but let me know if you find any. Hope this helps someone.

    Thanks to all!

        Hi,

        nice tool. However with linear to nonlinear all values below 20 are mapped to 1. That doesn't help much if you want a certain color there. It will all be grey.

        For example 15 1 1 -> 1 1 1 and 1 1 15 -> 1 1 1. I think it's still safer to use a gamma correct map.

          Do you honestly need values between 0 and 1? I can't tell a difference between 0 and 2. This is the exact reason linear is so much better, it takes a lot of emphasis off the dark colors.

              @pengo log in to six4one first then re-click the link. It doesnt work straight away because it is in the private section, so you need to be both logged in and part of the legit users group

                  If you are logged in, but don't see a download button, you need to post here:

                  http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...17103&start=50

                  and ask to be added to the private section. Once you are given private access, you will be able to download it.

                    Actually there is a big difference, which is why the Vraycolor map is so useful because it allows for floating point color to be more accurate.

                      So, would it be helpful if I had it not round the color values or gave them in floating point?
