  • Is the max standard material faster than Vray ?

I'm wondering if Max standard material are faster than Vray setting for the same kind of material ?

Cause sometines, we can see some who are using Standard material instead of vray settings.

What is your point of view about that ?

    thanks

Vray materials are faster overall, it calculates quicker plus it gives you more features. I've heard increases of 10% myself but I've never benchmarked it personally.

Sometimes the light cache calculation takes a lot longer whenever I have a non V Ray material in my scene, so I always find myself having to convert the scene to V Ray.

apples to apples, vray materials are almost always going to be faster...but standard materials are good to use in specific situations, such as self illuminating materials or if you want to cheat the look of blurry reflections by using a standard material with specular adjustments. in this way they can be much faster
