  • Material Help.....

I need to create the material attachted. Any suggestions on how to do it? I did a test render using a Vraydisplacement, but the rendertime was ridiculous. The image will be 3600X2400. Thanks.

    Mmm interesting.

You would be hard pressed to get a decent displacement map from that anyway.
I would suggest some poly modelled and noise modifiers or something to get more detail. Something similar was done awhile back but on a larger scale.. let me see if i can find the thread.

    Ok found it.

I think he means this one... http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...ic.php?t=15260
      www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

Very similar indeed, just you'll have to use a more accurate noise with some sharp edges (try the advanced material from this post here for your displacements (the fine detail).
But sure enough, you will have to drive the basic shape with a proper polymodel, and a fairly accurate one.
Good luck with the translucency, too

Thanks for all of the feedback. Good news (for me at least), the client decided to go with a smoother stone face for the wall surface. Not to say that this stone is not going to be an option still, but as of right now it's out. Thanks for the help regardless.
