  • anyway to desaturate reflections?

    strange one this

I have a reflective object in a very blue enviroment, but i know the client will want it to actualy look silver, metal and GRAY and not blue.

So, is there anyway in vray to desaturate the reflections on just one object in a scene?

    cheers

    Hi

Try using a Vray mat as the base then put a Vray OverrideMtl on top, there you will find what you need.

I'm not sure how thats going to give him desaturated reflections. The only sure way I know is to render out object matte pass and separate reflection pass and composite them in post. You would be able to desaturate the reflection then.

Render another pass with reflections, GI, lighting and all shadows turned off and only that object contributing to the alpha. Should only take a few seconds, and then you can throw it into photoshop to use as a mask for a hue/saturation.

a dirty workaround would be a standard mat with a colour correct and vraymap for the reflections...
