hi all,
Don't know if this a new tip or just explored by someone else, but while i was toying around with max2009 design, i found out that they added functionality to the "Custumize->Custum UI and Defaults switch" which let you "autoload" a material library to your startup scene.
How:
Go into your max root and find the Folder "Defaults".
There are the presets for the switcher, which are basically another named folder including a "FactoryDefaults" folder with an ini-file and a matlib called "Medit.mat".
Now you can replace the materials with your vray materials and after switching to the preset max should load your materials automatically.
I haven't installed vray yet, but maybe there is a way to change the "CurrentDefaults.ini" also to have a vray switcher... The ini is somehow not really documentated for vray, but there you can load objects , like the daylightsytem, only by adding the classid to the specific object description.
