So, this is just the result of me playing around. It's not perfect, and It's certainly not for close ups, but it might work for someone.
I was really just playing with displacements and wanted to try to create a low poly tree. I went a little overboard on the branches, and I'm sure someone could do a better job. This was my test scene. It's essentially, a bunch of splines w/ weights with 11 low weight planes w/ bend modifiers around the top. I'm still working on some more realistic models w/ better geometry etc. I'll try to remember to post them up when i'm done.
I've included the max file (3DS Max 2009 Design with Vray 1.50SP2), the mat lib file and the 3 maps used.
