For those of you with say 4gb of ram, 32 bit Windows 7 and "Out of memory" issues when rendering:
1) Shift + right-click folder c:/windows/system32 , select "open command window here" or something like that...
2) run command like this: BCDEDIT.EXE /Set IncreaseUserVa 3072
Use at own risk!
It solved most of my problems, although windows itself can be a bit slower. You could just repeat the command with 2048 as the value to restore default settings when you don't have to render anything big.
