  • Vray for Maya Tutorials

Not that anyone here needs training but I've found a large number of freelancers in the NYC area that are very familiar with Mental Ray. Since we are obviously a vray shop, I've had to do a fair bit of training. I decided to make my life a little easier, and help the community a bit too... and am posting tutorial vids on youtube. The fist few are live, and I might add like on every 1 or 2 weeks.

Thanks Andrew. I know vray for 3ds MAX very well but this will help me get up to speed in maya. Seems like more and more shops are giving vray a try if not switching over completely!

hey Vance! No problem. Yeah, I hope I'm having some effect on the NYC industry. I've been making a lot of MR2Vray converts Eyeball had no small effect on me too. They got me using it in max, and I swore when it came to Maya I would give it my attention. Low and behold.

Hope all is going well for you. Let me know what you're up to!

                  Excellent tutorials Andrew!

Just a suggestion, maybe you could do one for how to set up V-Ray for animations, with detailed settings and workflows for common projects. The Nederhorst settings video was great, but it's incredibly slow to render with those settings. I know it's hard to make a entirely general setting setup given the different needs of different projects. But maybe a run-through of what to think of when setting up animations?
I think a lot of the VFX/motion graphics shops would appreciate a video like this!

Just wanted to say that I love your fast SSS tutorials, aweidenhammer. It helped me out alot. Please make more tutorials! I agree with hellobard that it would be nice to see some tutorials regarding rendering animations and reducing flicker in moving scenes. Keep em coming!

Also looking forward to more tutorials. Thanks Andrew. Have you changed any of your workflow settings, since you produced these?
