It should be fairly simple, just put the ambient light there, add a VRayDirt texture in it and adjust the dirt radius to get the effect you need. You may want to turn on the "environment occlusion" option so that the VRaySky or other environment texture is taken into consideration.

Hi Vlado - I'm just messing about with this. When I tick on 'environment occlusion' in the VRayDirt map, my render completely blows out. I am using a vraycamera, vraysun and vraysky in the environment slot. The only other light is the vrayambientlight with this vraydirt map in there. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Do you still have the sun turned on / lighting the scene? Then you have double light for the sun. The sun itself and the ambient light using vray environment (sun included).

Yep, I have the sun turned on still as I want it to create the directional sun lighting. Are you saying that the AmbientLight is also using the vraysun?

I thought that you would like to get ambient only from the vray environment.

Just tested the setup with sun + ambient light + vray env. and yes , it burns everything totally.
I didn't found away to control it to get any good balance between them.
Hmm... so I'd like to know the right way of doing it also.

I'm sure there should be a simple solution to this. At the moment, I have reduced the value of the lightmap to 4 (from default 100) and this seems to look much better and still picks up the environment colours. I don't know if this is a workaround hack or the correct way to do it though.
