A bit of a no-brainer but thought I would share.
Instead of using the z-depth for blur, I have been using it as a mask to sharpen and getting some nice subtle results.
In PS I duplicate the layer and apply a un-sharp mask filter, then pop the z-depth into a mask and adjust the levels of the mask to suit.
