  • Public Apology

I regret to inform everyone that I did not expect such a large number of hits on my server for the video tutorials. I let everyone down, and I'm extremely sorry. I didn't mean to mislead PENdzel or anyone else at Evermotion. I was just trying to help out, but now instead of making friends, I've made enemies. I wish that feelings weren't so hard on this one, but I suppose there's nothing I can do about it.

I am truly sorry - this is my public apology. Please forgive the terrible inconvenience that I've caused everyone. This is the best I could offer for free, and I did not ask for anything in return, but Evermotion was kind enough to list me as a sponsor. The files remain on my server and the offer for access via username and password is still open.

Contact me at x@dtoxx.com if you'd like.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear about the bandwidth problem - it's really nice to have videos to follow.

One question, though... was there audio? I couldn't hear anything so it's harder to decipher what's happening and why...

Anyway, thanks again for making them!

First, PENdzel from evermotion.org made them, so I can't take credit. Second, I don't think that they actually have any audio. I think they were made as video only.

Thanks for the encouragement - I just feel like such a fool.

Anyway, I'm smoothing it out with evermotion. The vids will be mirrored again soon.

Thanks, Natty. Evermotion has already found a hosting solution that I hope works well for them. I'm transferring the vids now, so if all goes well the new links should be up tomorrow (Aug 22).

Keith and everyone, we are going to host those tutorials on our site soon or at least find another way to make them accessible...

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

                      Ahoi,

We've been in touch with Evermotion for quite a while. Due to some technical reasons we did not host the tutorials. Keith, thanks for the effots, we appreciate it. I was personally pretty surprised to see them at your website - we are kind of familiar with all the bandwidth problems. Just to give you an idea, our average traffic is over 4 GB/day. And that is just an ordinary day - if we are releasing a new version or updating the gallery or are making the news things tend to get much worse at an exponential rate. Putting up video tutorials for the public about a product like V-Ray would fill up even more bandwidth (as you obviously noticed). We still appreciate your help.

We are considering on putting the tutorials for V-Ray customers use only. After we find mirrors we will put them for public download as well.
                      Peter

Anyone consider using bittorrent to share them?
