Wouldn't it be cool to make the grass diffuse with displacement map, so arround the boxes there would appear a jaggier edge instead of the smooth line. But still aplying the grass image afterwards.

Ok you guys, while you wait for Free Agent to sort his hard disk out and find the tutorial, have you tried Micha's method

It really is very good and effective. Its only drawback is that it really only works for eye level views, but in my opinion in this situation it is unsurpassed!
