Would having a "Unwrap UV" modifier cause the splotches also? I have a posting in the image galary about the splotches on the rug. till now I can't get rid of and I tried everything TutanMark did.

Actually I also get an error though for the rug. I'm not at home since I'm at work but I remember it saying "overbright or invalid color" at something like "rug at rgb"

Its probably not exact but maybe someone may be familiar.

    Thanks.

Thanks ReRender, a good one. I'll add it to the growing text at metinseven.com .

Tutanmark, instead of turning gi off, hide or delete objects. Also make sure that you're not reusing your previous IR map... Make sure single frame is checked so irradiance is calculated from scratch.

Try deleting the colored flags on the tables. Because it's the only objects with red in it, this could be the problem (just a wild guess!!)

hope you find the problem soon!

            for Flipside:
Thanks for your suggestion, i had my deadline some days ago... (i used photoshop to correct errors...) , anyway... i am playing with parameters to detect what is the problem... I'll post results as soon as possible

I am not reusing the I.Map file... it is calculated everytime... to be sure is not the problem.

I tried to turn off objects from scene (tables and related things..) .. and splotches disappeared... so.. hmmm... i am on the way to find out the problem.

            Regards,
            Marco

HELLO!.... it seems that i found the problem... (not the solution...)

Splotches disappeared when i turn off blu glasses. I don't know what could be the reason, but i tried several times (with different combination of objects) ... splotches appeared only with glasses in scene.... so...

This is the setup-up of glass ... (very basic i guess)

              (vlado???....)

I tried to play with some parameter.. just to see if something change....

              - Energy preservation mode - "monochrome"
              - Trace glossy and Diffuse together - (off)
              - Use irradiance map - (off)

              I obtained the same result...

if someone has any idea .. please share ...

Interesting. Maybe it has something to do with GI refractions, but you can't turn that off, or bounced light will not be emitted through your glass (if I'm right).

Please keep us posted. Maybe there's another solution coming up for the big splotches checklist.

                Cheers,

I guess it will depend on a specific camera angle in conjunction with the bounced light rays.

Keep me posted, Sherlocks. I feel a new cause/solution coming up.

                    Cheers,

The evidence points in the direction of a certain Professor Vlado, whose evil light rays are sending out splotchmonsters that cause stains in renders across the earth, eventually resulting in world domination for Doctor Vlado, because he wants to sell the earth to Planet Blotch. The only solution is to create an evil splotch character within the Max dimension, animate its visibility track to 0 and render it with VRay. Let's call it voodoo debugging.

Yes, TutanMark, give us the detailed splotch report you have assembled in the mean time, so we can avoid splotch history repeating itself.

                              Cheers,

I've posted a recompile of the bitmap plugin for 3dsmax 5.1 that solves most of the splotches involving bitmaps (cropping etc). You can get it from the "Docs" section of the registered users area on our site...

                                Best regards,
