  • rendering with the same settings, but a HUGE difference in rendering time!!!!!

Hi, I´m doing some huge (4724 pixels x 3543 pixels) renders of some interior scenes, the first one took just an hour and a half, the second one is taking over 20 hours!!!!!!

The one that took an hour and a half has GI as the illumination source, the second one has a sunlight and a rectangular light and also the GI using the default sky settings, so as the first scene...... So, does the sunlight and the rectangular light increased the rendering time 18 hour +?????

    Please help!!!!!!

I´m using the Interior reading settings that can be found at the download area.

The render time not depends only on the global settings and the amount of lights in the scene, but also on the content of your scene/model. For instance if you have objects with refracted/ subdivded reflections it will take longer for vray to calculate those opposite to another scene with the same settings but 'simpler' materials.

This is my experience with V-ray, so if I'm mistaken please correct me.

That is a crazy increase in render time, but depending on a number of factors I think its certainly within the realm of possibility. I would imagine that A) the scene is extremely bright/over exposed, which would be a major contributor and/or B) that there's a lot of geometry in the scene. Keep in mind that lights will become more and more expensive to calculate the larger the resolution of your image is. This is why the Store With Irradiance option on rec lights are pretty invaluable.

if you mess settings with rectangular light yes it might ruin rendering times
