2.5GB - sounds good, the 2GB limit is broken. How much RAM did you installed at your system? You use a 32bit OS?

so this works??? i've tryed to make a render, with that on my 64bits OS, and for use a lot of ram i've tryed to make some realy heave displacement, i started the render at 10AM and when it as 06PM the irradiance map, didn't started yet to moove, so i gave up.

And you are sure that your scene setup isn't the problem, the displacement dosn't cause the slow down? I would test the RAM patch at known scenes, but with heavy geometry and large textures. My experience is, that displacement can be very very slow.

I have 64bit Vista, and 12 gig of RAM.

Hmm, if you would use Rhino v3, than it would crash at 3.2...3.6 GB. So, the patch dosn't seems to be so effective like at Rhino.

I used one of my heaviest models and tried rendering it and it still only uses only about 1GB of RAM . Am I reading it incorrectly? I'm looking at the processes tab of the Windows Task Manager, and under memory for Sketchup. There it reads about 900,000 K for my heaviest model.

1GB - that is less than any known limit. :-\

What is the filesize of your heaviest model? And Polycount?

File size is 38MB. Including nested components, the face count is 368709.

Interesting, although my biggest models are approx 60mb+. The one I had memory problems with was actually a bit smaller at arond 50mb.
What max size of texure do you use? (i.e. 1600x1600)

Just as a little disclaimer, ASGvis has never heard of this company, this software, or anything like it. It's "freeware" which usually means that the developer is getting some sort of compensation somewhere... or the developer wanted to help improve the software development community... but if that's the case, they should provide source code with it so others can improve upon it, and so others can see if there is any malicious code in there.

Please be aware that we do not encourage hacking any software in conjunction with any of our products. If you choose to use the software that Micha linked in this post, be aware that you are doing so at your own risk. If you get a virus, or damage your software or hardware due to using this program, we are not associated with it in any way.

If you would like any of the host applications that we develop for, to use more memory, or function differently, we recommend you contact the company that makes that product, and request that they do so. That way you're sure that it's safe, and supported by the software vendor.
                        Best regards,

Why not an easy solution and the ASGvis team contact the SU team and ask for the little change? And I suppose so a request by a plugin developer will get more attention than by some users. I miss a little enthusiasm. It should not be the job of the users.
Some months before as I discovered that the spawner was RAM limited too. I asked Joe for that "hack", he never heard about it before, but quick found the right switch at his developing software and the spawner was ready for more RAM usage.

Mine is about 1000X1000. Majority of the textures are standard Sketchup textures though.

Maybe thats where the difference lays, most of my textures are custom made for every job and are alot higher res than that, I remember reading on here that large texture maps can hog memory.

Righteo. I don't think I'll use higher res textures just for the sake of upping the RAM usage though. If the resolution of my textures suffice my needs, I'll stick with it. But maybe some projects I'll require more custom made textures and I'll make better ones .

                                Thanks for the information!
