  • How to deactivate rendering while calculating irradiance map

    Hi there beloved forum !

I've been said to try it in another forum, so here's my second try :

This is maybe a very very stupid question due to blindness or lack of knowledge but how can I disable the rendering of pictures when just precalculating the irradiance map for an animation ?
Is it possible or not, and when, where ?

If it's not, what settings do you use to increase the speed of rendering to avoid the unnecessary process of rendering the useless pic ?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

There is a "Dont render final image" switch in the global switches section of the latest Vray Advanced version.

You can also try setting your Image Sampler to Adaptive -4,-4 or less.

    Hope this helps.

Or use region rendering and set a very small region. Vray will calculate GI for the whole image, not only for the region. So you'll have IR info and only need to render for example 5*5 pixels!
