    Hey Guys,

This is more of a sketchUp tutorial on how to achieve a lens blur effect, but since we all use Vray & SketchUp I thought I would put it in here, Just a note to say I didn't make this tutorial, but I have found it very usefull and hope some of you can too........

Still seems easier to render out a depth pass from V-Ray though...
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

for a faster computer maybe easier to render out with the DOF setting.....
but this one is much more flexible to adjust on later....
but a bit problem on the edge lines in sketchup which is not affected by the fog setting from SU....just my opinion

            Re: Alternative Lens Blur Method

You can switch edges off in SU's Styles editor. Don't forget though that this SU method doesn't allow the depth map to "read" clipmapped materials- SU's fog function just sees them as solid faces. Micha worked out an incredibly ingenious way to force VfSU to read clipmapped materials properly so you can render out the Z-channel from VfSU to use with the same Photoshop lens blur method, below.

              Hey Aufi,

Yeah your right about the fog not affecting the edge lines but as Jackson said you can turn the edges off or you can change the colors of the edge lines.........what problem is this causing you I might be able to help you out.........

                  Re: Alternative Lens Blur Method

Instead of turning the lines off, change the color of the lines to a light grey so that they are almost invisible this should help..................
