  • A simple script I have created...

I recently came upon the problem that many of my interior scenes - mostly filled with nice furniture - were prepared and materialized for the max radiosity renderer. Tons of raytrace and reflect/refract maps. I could easily have changed them manually, but rather took some time to create this simple script that converts them manually to vraymaps. I hope noone covered this one yet.

you can download it from the homepage below.

Works only for standard and multisub-materials.
Gets rid of advanced lighting override materials by putting their basematerial on their place.
    Changes all raytrace/reflectmaps/flatmirrors to vraymaps

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, but don't even think of it that I'm creating a multipurpose map replacer out of it. I'm quite new to this scripting stuff.

    Thanks
    Andras

I created it in max5.1. I didn't use any scripted stuff listed in the 'new features of 5.1' script-help so I think it should work well with max5.

will it work in my 1990 3d studio DOS version?
              Reflect, repent and reboot.
              Order shall return.

any chance you can share it with me too? I didn't see any links, unless I have gone blind.

                        thanks.

I don't remember the name of this script so I can't send it unless someone remembers. Have you tried this one? http://www.chaoticdimension.com/foru...pic.php?t=7066

I moved the script to another location, if somebody is still interested

                            http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~oa123/max/Re...Replacer_v1.ms

I send the urls of two other scripts my friend has created. They are hillarious!

                            1. zoa_multires is an nth solution for lowering polygon size in a polybject
works quite spartanic, but really useful when modelling architectural stuff

                            http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~oa123/max/zoa_multires_2.ms

                            2. zoa_rnd-matid is a multipurpose material id randomizer. Might come handy.

                            http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~oa123/max/zoa_rnd-matid.ms

                            cheers

@tammo: what release of your 3ds dos (i guess it must been r2)? can it run with vray?
