  • Tips: List of Downloadable 3D Models, Materials and IES Links

Hi ASGVIS community! I'm DiditzZz and my real name is Samuel Edyson. I have a passion in achieving photo-realistic rendering using the very program I am used to (Google SketchUp along with V-Ray for Sketchup).

I started this thread as an initial lists of websites giving free (and pay to download) 3D models, nice materials and IES files (since the new VfSU supports IES). Given that I have so far didn't find any good source of IES and models in the forum. It would be very appreciated if every one of you posts any good source you know in this thread, so that people (and newcomers) could easily look to this thread as a start to get good quality 3D models, materials and IES.

Remember, it has to be sources with good quality, for 3D models in particular. So far I've not found any source with good 3D models (and IMO, Google Warehouse cannot be considered a source with good quality 3D models).

I will keep updating my post when people starts to post their links (and credits to them). To every moderators reading this, If you find that there is another similar thread like this, feel free to delete this thread. If you guys find this thread potentially useful, It would be appreciated if you can sticky it.

    Here it goes.

    3D Models - .3ds Format
    - Archibaseplanet - A source giving a lot 3D models based on the division (there are also brand division). Major format - .3ds
    - Evermotion Models - A source from ASGVIS with good quality. Major format - .3ds (Link credits to RaveReyes)
    - Archive3d - A source with free 3d models, import the material as a .3ds file and SU can open it. (Link credits to RaveReyes)

Maps and Materials - Tips: Material maps still need to be tweaked and edited
    - Cgtextures - A source for free textures. (Link credits to RaveReyes)
    - Arroway-textures - A source to very nice textures. (Link credits to RaveReyes)

Hello diditzz, there are 3d models that you have to export them but they have good quality for example evermotion models,
    http://software.asgvis.com/index.php...k=1&Itemid=628

but you have to export those models from 3dmax to 3ds file so you can open it with SU.

This a great link actually free 3d models and all you have to the its import the material as a 3ds file and su can open it. http://archive3d.net/

For material that its something you have to tweak and create you own materials and here its a link for good free textures just sign in.
    sorry for my english

This a link for very nice textures: http://www.arroway-textures.com/

The google warehouse have good free models, its very important that when you are going to render choose the right material and mapping for the model on your scene! you will have good results.
This a collection that i like so much here is the link: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...35&prevstart=0

Re: Tips: List of Downloadable 3D Models, Materials and IES Links

Okay, thanks a lot, DaveReyes. These definitely are good and I will look into it.

The idea of this thread I created is so that there is a full guide on importing 3D models (of any file formats usable by Google SketchUp), apply materials (guide on mapping to model, UVW guides on the materials, what type of formats usable and what should be the appropriate size & settings), and implementing IES (I have so far used my IES files that I usually import in 3dsMax rendering, but none of them worked perfectly, as in too bright, not clear wall washing effect, etc).

While I try to list down these guides, I will try to also incorporate division of these informations (in my posts) and list down the available links made by all of you in the future. If possible, a full explanation about how things works would be perfect for me to put in.

      sorry for my english
Don't be sorry as it is understandable for people whose English was not their first language (mine was Chinese :-\)
