  • Light Cache vs. QMC ?

    Hi everyone?

Even though I have been using Vray for a few years, I have always used the combination of IM+QMC

These setting has worked for me very well, but only recently I start noticing Light Cache, I have experimented with it a little bit, at first it seems a little less contrasty than QMC, but it seems faster, and I get immediate feel for my render in the first second.

I have been googling this topic, but I always just find comparison for interior scenes, my main work is rendering products, so my scenes are pretty simple, usually 1 or 2 area lights and a HDRi.

Can anyone give me advice, should I stick to my old habit of just using QMC or should I really be looking into LC?

Is anyone working on same stuff as me, product shots, hdri...?

    Thanks
    Anna.

I prefer LC for single shots of interior scenes.

And for complex geometry with lots of detail (displacement, bump, noise) QMC.

LC varies lighting depending of the camera position.
