  • Comming from 3DS max, gamma 2.2 setup

    Hi

I am new here and I am new to Vray for Rhino. At my former job, I was using 3ds max and I must say i was getting it... Since 2 years now, I am in a new place and it's my first attempt in render with vray again, with rhino this time...

I never forget the basics of rendering I did for advanced tricks and method. This is the case for the ledgendary Gamma 2.2 setup discussed many many times in many many rendering/vray forums.

So my first attempt in render a large exterior scene: I check (without thinking) the gamma correction (color mapping) at 2.2...
1- the scene took ages to render
2- I can't make materials diffuse color looks good

I know I am missing something but I can't remember what...can someone helps me?

Are you talking about gamma correction in global switches or in color mapping? Leave everything checked in global switches, the current build of VfR avoids the "legendary" gamma workflow. And shouldn't dramatically increase your rendering time.

Not so sure if you're working with gamma in color mapping. But if you're just going with generic 2.2, I'm not sure why you're using color mapping to do this anyway?
