  • reflective vray light material

    Hey guys,
just trying to figure out how to get reflection on vray light material.. something like a light box made of reflective glass. Also, i am trying to clear my material editor 'material/map browser' list which shows numerous materials which i imported earlier from some other max file.. list became to long and it takes lot of time when ever i click to material list..

take a look at the pyramids scene that was one of the example scenes...I think it is a very similar material...
For material editor, when you go to "open material editor" right click on the rollout of the matlib and choose "close."
There could be another way, too...but I can't tell right now, machine is busy ATM...

You can put your VrayLightMaterial in the base of a VrayBlendMaterial, then add a regular VrayMaterial into one of the slots. Make it fully reflective, fresnel off, and then add a Falloff Map set to Fresnel in the blend slot of the the VrayBlendMtl. You can also make that VrayBlendMaterial "additive" (checkbox near bottom) but I don't find it necessary for reflections if you use a Falloff fresnel to control blending.
