Hi,
since I'm not sure 1.5 is stable enough for my projects, I thought about a way to get both - the rock solid usage of 1.05 and the new features of 1.5. Sound like not possible, but I found a way.
First I'm working like always at my 1.05 scene until I'm ready for rendering and only some specials of 1.5 are missing. Than I open the file per Rhino5 64bit and VfR1.5. Here I adjust the new parameters of 1.5 - set interpolation options, set limits for refl/refraction depths, GI ambient occlussion and ... can use the enhanced speed of Vray 2 (f.ex. much quicker merging LC passes). If anything is done, than I delete all layers and objects from the file (+ use _purge) and save this file as my Render1.5Scene.3dm. In the next step I insert the 1.05 scene as block - simple drag and drop the 1.05 file to Rhino5 and choose insert. Ready, now I can work on my main 1.05 file and simple update the block at Rhino 5, the adjusted 1.5 materials stay keeped at Rhino 5 (R5 ask during the update of the block to keep the materials of the scene).
If a 1.5 bug cause that my project file is damaged - maybe like the "save tall" bug from here http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...9932-File-Size that blow up the file size, than I have my 1.05 file that stay at the rock solid level of 1.05 and I can continue there.
Tested here with an interior scene, where 1.5 helps me to bring down the render time at less than 20% of 1.05. Only there is a little bug of Rhino 5 that ignore lights at blocks (http://news2.mcneel.com/scripts/dnew...m=400373&utag=), but the lights can easy copied from 1.05 to 1.5. And the intensity of the dir lights needs to be set to the doubled intensity to get the same effect, because a 1.5 bug.
Good luck,
Micha
