ok .. u open vray environment then max environment?
then u don't use max environment
i guess is 1 step in + ... there is no need for that ... pretty sure that HDRI map will not be use as a visible background
    ...
or is trick i don't know

what you are doing is overiding max's enviroment and then using the hdri as the skylight and also the reflection which is also overiding max's.

well..hmm... overriding max BG is ok, but why using the same map for both ..vray and max?

One advantage would be to use a hires JPG for the BG (which is visible in the rendering) and a lowres HDR for lighting.

        btw,
        have a look at the
SDR-Project Forum, where we offer a (max/lw)script for loading different enviroments with one mouseclick the way i wrote before

Natty - the link doesn't work. Could you reinstate it?

          Cheers!

use a vray material.... turn the reflect to grey for example .. then put the hdri in the vray override enviroment reflections ..

Thanks for the clip Natty. Looks like you have a nice libray of HDRI's. Can you give us some links to any free downloads?

Im trying to make this thing work .. but the file that I download never works.. it always says.. "unable to find a suitable codec (vids:div4) to compress the video stream.. you will not be able to view the movie"

Is there any way of getting around this??

Leo: Download this program from download.com and install only the codec. Then play natty's exe file
