  • Tut Requests

I decided to do some tutorials for beginners, as well as some more advanced later on, but I need some help from you, the topics.
So if anyone need tuts, post request here and I'll try to help you as well as I can.

    Greetings

        Re: Tut Requests

It would be great to see how to make a few materials like brushed aluminum and rough metal.
I look at some 3Dsmax tuts on brushed metal and they mostly use tiling to stretch the noise texture but that doesn't seem to work the same way in Blender.

Lighting for a product shoot, fill, rim, gloss, reflections and such.

And also how to set up a scene with HDRI, sun and sky.

Thanks a lot for wanting to help!

I'd also like to test a scene with an hdri lighting. Could you show us the process please?

Here's a basic HDRI lit scene (add in the HDRI you would like in place of the one I link to in my sample file.)

            steps from default scene:
            1. enable GI illumination (Render Tab) Change Display to "Keep UI"
            2. Make a dome light by adding (or changing the default point light into) a Hemi type lamp
            3. Add your HDRI in the texture tab (Add New texture, select image or movie, find your HDRI file) change "Bitmap" color space to Linear, and add filtering if desired.
            4. I typically use physical camera. Adjust your dome light intensity and camera settings to taste..

            Hope that's useful!
