  • Conversion of tutorial settings for different systems

When I did natty's photon tutorial I converted it to meters and it came out like a cartoon. Then I went back and reopened the max file and left the settings at millimeters or what ever format he uses and it came out great.. then I tried to use the same settings on a project that I have done in meters and I only have a black screen with a few lights in it.

Do I just crank the numbers by 10 for the lights? If I want to use a vray light that is in a window to produce the photons... do I still give all the other lights the same settings?

    thanks for any help

are you actually drawing to scale ?
all my setting were based on mm and photon mapping is very scale dependent.

my drawings are to scale in meters. It seems to be working now, so not sure what the problem was. When I did your tutorial after rescaling to meters I had to crank all the lights to 10 times the value or I just had a black scene. Is it just a matter of adjusting the lights and using the same settings? I know I said mine was working.. but not sure how?

Also, I posed a question in the general section, but can you tell me if I can use photon maps while creating a 360 panorama? I have tried and all the images have different exposures. Can I map one photon map and use it for all? The last problem is when the camera faces the exterior, I get no light on my Skydome.. so it looks like night..

I can post a movie to a website if it would help.

      thanks

The video is 4 mg. so I thought it would be easier to photos a image.
I also am having difficulty getting rid of the bloches and red paint on the cabinet.

I have marked the edges.. in the movie it is alot more noticible
          Thanks

In this one you can see the outside on either edge.. all black When I render other cameras in the model some show daylight others do not,
