Hi guys,
I see lots of people struggling when they have to match a material color to the color of a particular image; the gamma stuff gets in the way and many people get stuck with color correction nodes and what not.
Here is a very easy way to pick colors from an existing image in 3ds Max:
1. Open the image from Rendering > View image file
2. Click the color swatch in the material that you want to adjust
3. Use the "Sample Screen Color" button to pick your color from the image
The result will always be correct with respect to the current 3ds Max gamma settings (i.e. 3ds Max will automatically apply inverse gamma to the picked color).

Best regards,
Vlado
