  • Blending materials, how to mask them?

I assume Layered material equals a Blend material, right? So how do I define how to blend the materials?
I want to blend different materials like you can see on this picture:

I can't find an input to assign a b/w material for the blending?

There is a "Weight" param for every brdf, this is what you need.

I actually already tried that one but it didn't change anything - possibly a bug?. Well, gonna try it later again and report.

I couldn't get it to work either. Adding a texture to "weight" doesn't seem to work. I made sure the texture I was using was mapped correctly, and it works fine when I use it for a simple vraymtl. Here is my sample scene.

I've opened the scene and pressed render - so this is not the desired result?

Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be... But it doesn't render that way for me. I also updated the exporter to make sure I'm current. No luck.

The left b/w texture is the texture in the weight datablock. As you can see nothing is happening.

What I think is happening is that it is not using the UV map correctly. When I set it to object coordinates it masks something. Of course the wrong parts, but still. The UV map is not working.

New attachment try. And yes, it's definitely an UV issue for me. Gonna make a quick screenshot.

Mapping with object coordinates: It masks something.

Is there no edit function for the forum? What also makes me wonder (although I might just not grasp vray/the implementation of the exporter yet) is, it seems like I cannot assign any textures to any channels with a layered material? With a VrayMaterial I can assign my texture to influence for example the diffuse, reflection color, etc.

With a layered material I am only able to influence the bump and displacement mapping - which means that I can't assign any textures at all.

yeah, its weird that you can't specify the mapping.
Yep, this forum has been frozen for editing for pretty much everyone. Better make your post good the first time

                      Sry guys, quick fix uploaded.

accessoire, yes you can't; you will be able to do it with nodes in the next release.
