  • tutorial to use the new vrimage converter tool

    Hi All,

I've put together a simple tutorial to explain how to render to and use the vrimg format. Let me know any comments here, I have comments turned off on my blog (I hate moderating spam...)

it's very useful when dealing with huge outputs. for smaller ones i just open the vrimg in the FrameBuffer and save all passes from there. But you need to open a new instance of Sketchup and not the one you were just rendering in or it will crash. cheers.

Unfortunately this tool is (again) not available in this form for os x users! Please make these tools available as well, shouldn't be to hard or is it?
AMD Ryzen 9, RTX 2080Super, ArchiCAD 24, Vectorworks 2020, Sketchup 2021 Pro, Vray Next for Sketchup, Skatter, Twinmotion 2020

if you cant use the tool do the following.

          1. set render output as vrimg
          2. after rendering open a new instance of sketchup
          3. open the v-ray Frame Buffer (F)
          4. press the open folder symbol on top and locate your vrimg.
          5. save out all your passes as any format you like.
          6. be happy about it

          cheers, mo

@wunnenstein: That's a good pointer to use the frame buffer to open a vrimage file and save passes from there. Thanks!
