  • Latest version of V-Ray 2 Standalone?

    Hello!
I have a quick question : what is the latest version of V-Ray 2 Standalone (for mac)?
Currently I can download the 2.25.01 from the chaosgroup website but it dates from december 2013 and I was wondering if a newer version exists somewhere in the infinite complexity of the v-ray ecosystem.
I have some problems with the frame buffer which locks itself for a few seconds each time I call it, not a huge problem, but if there is a version without this problem, that would be really appreciable.

    Thanks for your answer!

Contact our support department for the participation of V-Ray 3.x beta, latest builds has a proper support of V-Ray Frame Buffer window for 64bit OS X.

So here is the answer from the support :
We referred to the forum post and we would like to inform you that the V-Ray 3.0 beta which includes V-Ray Standalone 3.0 beta ended with the official release of V-Ray 3.0 for Maya.
We are sorry to report but currently there is no newer V-Ray 2.0 Standalone version available.
If you are interested in trying the V-Ray 3.0 for Maya please let us know.
I'll have to deal with it.
For the project I'm working on I don't need the v3 features and I won't spend again hundred of € and hours of paper work and license configuration just for a bug fix.
That's the first and last project I'm working with V-Ray. It's too bad that this wonderful tool lies in an ocean of complications.

Wait, what!? Is there currently no upgrade path from standalone 2.0 to 3.0 even though Max and Maya have been released? I still haven't gotten a full answer from my inquiries to support regarding DR nodes. Really would like some clarification from Chaos Group on the availability of vray standalone 3.0. Will this not be sold as a separate product?

            I don't understand it also!
I have an email from chaos group saying that since I bought a new vray 2 standalone license in August 2014 I could upgrade to vray standalone 3 even without any costs.
So this must be a big misunderstanding.
It would be nice that someone from chaosgroup explains it since vrayblender users are all a litle bit worried.
